The story of ‘baa e maari boundary’ mainly revolves around the bhatia
family which consists of rashmikant Bhatia, the head of the family, his
wife bharti,their son suketu ,their daughter gargi and their daughter in
law (suketu’s wife) aastha.
Rashmikat Bhatia, who is the owner of a call centre and a father of
three, is not really very attached to his family and is more inclined
towards expanding his already blooming empire..the story is a bit
different with his son suketu who’s luck has not favoured him in his
business and he has incurred heavy losses in the share market. This has
become the reason for suketu and rashmikant’s strained relationship with
each other..but this is not the only strained relationship in the family ,
as gargi (rashmikant and bharti’s daughter) is also not on good terms with
the family members, owing to the fact that she wants to go for a live-in
relationship with a married man . Along with strained relations, there are
ambitions and aspirations in the family,some blooming and some suppressed.
Aastha,suketu’s wife , who is not really good at acting wants to be an
actress and is hoping that someday she will make it big in the showbiz.
But hopes are less,almost none in the case of bharti ,who was a leading
actress and an athlete during her collegedays.. But now, she is only an
old and a lonely woman who’s status is nothing more than a piece of
furniture kept in the house. Everyone in the family is too self centred to
respect and value her and too realize that she too might have had
aspirations and dreams..instead of love and warmth from the family, what
comes across her way is humiliation and insult,ignorance and
indifference.She is like an unpaid maid in the house who’s job is to serve
everyone and take care of their needs.But bharti being a sweet and a good
hearted woman, takes all this with a pinch of salt and tries to be happy
even when there is no reason to be..
The twist in the story arrives when manorath,son of rashmikant and
bharti’s second daughter who is stettled in America , decides to pay a
visit to his grandparents in India. When manorath comes to live with the
Bhatia family for a few weeks, he realizes the fact that how disconnected
every family member is from the other and how disrespectfully his grandma
is being treated in the house. Bharti’s humiliation reaches it’s peak when
a journalist from fortune magazine comes to interview rashmikant and asks
what is the contribution of your wife in your life to which rashmikant
replies that her only contribution is that she made me the father of three
kids, that’s it. If this was not enough , he even asks bharti not to come
In front of the journalist and also excludes her from the family
photograph clicked for the magazine. Manorath observes all this and feels
that a multiple award winning actress and a leading athlete of her college
deserves much more in life. He conducts a photo session of bharti and
distributes her photographs to various ad agencies.when bharti is called
for an audition by a company which produces hair oil for the aged people,
it turns out that the M.D. of the company was bharti’s school mate and now
both manorath and her friend, persuade her to give modeling a shot.The
Bhatia family receives the shock of it’s life when over the days, bharti’s
commercials become extremely popular and she turns into an overnight
celebrity. At the same time, rashmikant is also becoming increasingly
jealous of the the interactions between his wife and her school mate.
The rest of the story is about how bharti puts to
use her new found celebrity status and confidence to regain her status in
the family and also to solve the problems of the family members.By the end
of the story , due to bharti, all the family members come closer to each
other and the bonds between them strengthen by leaps and bounds.
